Apple Crumb Pie
5-7 Tart Apples (Jonathan)
One 9-inch Unbaked Pie Shell
½ cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
½ cup Sugar
¾ cup Flour
1/3 cup Butter
Peel apples and cut in slices into pie shell. Combine ½ cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Combine other sugar and flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Serven with ice cream or whipped cream.
Hot Spiced Apple Cider
1 gallon Apple Cider
½ gallon Cranberry Juice Cocktail
1 cup Brown Sugar
Pinch of Salt
2 Tablespoons Whole Cloves
2 Cinnamon Sticks
Put in crockpot or large stockpot. Let come to near boil and simmer for 2 hours.
Cinnamon Apples
Core and pare medium sized Jonathan or Golden Delicious Apples. Cook until tender in syrup made from 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water, 1/3 cup red hots, and a couple drops of red food coloring. Chill and serve.
Microwave Applesauce
8 medium cooking Apples
½ cup Water
1 cup Sugar
Dash Cinnamon (optional)
Peel, core, and quarter apples. Place in 2 quart dish. Cover and microwave on high 10-12 minutes until apples are tender, stirring once or twice. Stir in sugar. Let set 2-3 minutes to dissolve sugar. You can process in blender or food processer to make it extra smooth.
